ABOUT GOKYO & TENGBOCHE TREK

A Nepal trek that includes most of the Highlights of the entire Sagarmatha National Park. We discover the astonishing views of Everest Range from a privileged point of view (Gokyo Ri 5357m), the beauty of the Gokyo Lakes surrounded by gigantic peaks and the Renjo La Pass, and the magic of one of the highest Buddhist Monastery in the world with a very powerful history. Rebuilt twice due to an earthquake(1934) and a fire(1989), Tengboche Monastery was strategically built on top of a hill overseeing the Solokhumbu Valley.

We contemplate some of the highest peaks in the world and in the region: (Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu(8463m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Nuptse (7864m), Pumori (7165m), Ama Dablam (6814m)(Check our Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek), Kangtega (6783m), Thamserku (6618)…)

Mingle in the Sherpa culture as you walk through the nature of the Himalayas. The Yeti steps are present in the legends (or not…) of the locals.

Gokyo Lakes is one of the most popular treks for its outstanding natural beauties. The path towards Gokyo offers a variety of landscapes, from Rhododendron forests and beautiful waterfalls, to rocky terrain with less vegetation ending on a paradise where the contrast of the Dudh Pokhari (Gokyo Lake) and the mountains surrounding it can be compared with the most beautiful painting. Something that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime. You will get inspired and may feel overwhelmed by so much beauty of nature and culture.

Did you know?
Everest is the name of the General Surveyor in India in 1830 – 1843 (Sir George Everest, 1790-1866). His successor A.S. Waugh suggested that the peak XV had his name.
The nepali local name of Mount Everest is Sagarmatha, meaning “Forehead in the sky”. And the Tibetan name Chomolungma meaning “the mother goddess of the earth”. Even though there are many other names and meanings given to the sacred mountain depending on different cultural regions and different local pronunciations.

ABOUT THE CHO LA PASS TREK

This trek will allow you to see the three most incredible sites in Sagarmatha National Park; Everest Base Camp (with Kala Pathar peak summit), Gokyo Lakes (with Gokyo Ri peak summit), and Tengboche Buddhist Monastery.

We contemplate from many points of view some of the highest mountains in the world. You will get inspired by the Himalayan nature and the Sherpa culture.

We get immersed in the Sherpa culture and fusion with the variety of nature. Walking through Rhododendron forests, passing by magic waterfalls, hike rocky and dry terrain and crossing glaciers. On the way, we get to see numerous Sherpa Villages and a variety of Stupas, Manis and Chortens (Buddhist symbolic monuments) on the paths that are there to purify our souls and offer us good luck.

The shadows of the Yeti will follow us behind the legends of the locals.

Discover one of the highest Buddhist Monastery in the world: Tengboche. Situated on top of a hill overseeing the valley to the north (the way to Everest Base Camp), to the West (the path on the way to Gokyo) and to the south (the way to Namche Bazar with Mount Kongde in the background). The views to Everest range from this Nepal Trekking are great!

During the acclimatization days, we organize different activities you can choose from, amongst them our Special Sherpa Cooking Class conducted by our family in Namche Bazar.
