“If you’re concentrating on climbing , you can’t be concentrating on money and cars and houses and wives and boyfriends. And when you come back to deal with them, you have a better view of their relative importance. Climbing puts things in perspective again.”
Jeff Lowe (Ice Climber. 1950)

Exploring day in the city. You will be able to explore the city as well as make the last preparation for the trek. We will provide you with all information you need to explore the most emblematic places in Kathmandu. If you wish to have a Guided City Tour, do not hesitate to request this service when booking with us.

We will wake up very early (around 04:30am) to be at the airport first thing in the morning and take the domestic flight to Lukla (2800m), where the trek starts. Be prepared for a true adventure flying with a small aircraft with astonishing views of the Himalayas on the left of the aircraft, and the infinite hills covered by rice field terraces on the left. Once we land we start trekking. We will stop to recharge batteries and have some food in Phakding. Our last destination will be Monjo, the last village before entering the Sagarmatha National Park. On our arrival to Monjo, we will be able to explore the village and check the Monastery and the School, and have our first Sherpa dinner. This time we sleep in a high altitude mountain lodge! The adventure has just started…

During this journey we will be able to have the first views of Mount Everest just before arriving to Namche Bazar. This will be a short day trek, around 3 to 4 hours. The last 2 hours we will face a steep terrain after crossing one of the highest suspension bridge of the region to arrive to Namche Bazar. We will have time to walk around the village, taste delicious sweet caprices at the German Bakery, enjoy the paintings and the handicraft around the village or play pool at the bar!

We will spend the day doing some treks and activities to explore the area and get immersed in the culture. A variety of options are available. Some of our favourite ones; trek to Everest View Hotel, astonishing trek with the best views of the range of Everest: Nuptse, Lhotse, Everest, Annapurna… Visit Khumjung, just at the bottom of Mount Khumbila (the sacred mountain). We see the Edmund Hillary Foundation school and come back through Yak farms. On our arrival back to Namche Bazar, we can enjoy a good movie or documentary at the coffee shop, or if you prefer, we have available a Sherpa Cooking Class* special for you!(*no costs incurred for any of the activities mentioned).

After a nice flattish walk through a wide path for about an hour, we will descend to the Dudh Kosi river and cross a suspension bridge to go up again through a steep terrain for about 2 hours to arrive to the paradise called Tengboche; one of the highest Buddhist Monastery in the world. We sleep in Deboche, 20 min away from Tengboche downhill, to find more comfortable shelter. Due to the exposure of Tengboche location (on the very top of a hill), the winds can be more uncomfortable for our stay.

A wonderful trek day through the valley. We will be surrounded by the giants of the Himalayas. Everest will feel closer every time. And the splendorous views of Ama Dablam have no description; a must see.

We will stay in the area for an acclimatization day. We Hike up to Nangkar Tshang peak and be overwhelmed by the astonishing panorama with views of Island Peak. We will start feeling the altitude in every step, slow steps and drinking many litters of water is the key for the success!

We trek to the end of this valley where last village, Chhukhung, offers shelter to mountaineers that will be climbing the summit of Island Peak.

A good day to trek to Chhukung Ri (5550m) to see the majesty of Island Peak and all the other giants of the valley, including Everest Range incredibly close!.

We will cross the first of the 3 passes this day. Long and intense day that will test our fitness and preparation during the previous days. Once at the other side of the Pass, we will descend until the Khumbu Glacier, that will take our breath away. After crossing Khumbu Glacier, we will arrive to Lobuche and we will get our deserved rest!

If the conditions are good, we will visit Everest Base Camp in the afternoon (leaving the bag packs in Gorak Sherp lodge). Very special visit in which we are able to see where the expeditions prepare themselves to ascend the summit of the highest mountain in the world above the sea level.

For the most astonishing views, we ascend Kala Pathar peak (5540m) in the morning without bag packs. And start our descent back to Lobuche.

This journey will permit us to get ready for the challenging journey of Cho La Pass.

We will trek surrounded by over 6000m high peaks. During most of the trek we won’t find any village to have lunch so we will carry the food with us so we can recharge batteries when we get to the Pass, where we will be crossing glacier terrain. Views from this point are wonderful, and we can see Everest Range and Makalu, and the Gokyo valley on the other side. We arrive to Gokyo after crossing the Ngozumba Glacier. We find a little Paradise with the lake just in front of Gokyo Village and Renjo La Pass shining at the other end of the lake. Mount Cho Oyu (8201m) shows spectacular to the north of Gokyo.

We will ascend to Gokyo Ri peak to get enchanted by the wonderful views of Everest and surroundings with the Dudh Lake (Gokyo) at the bottom. Considered one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Everest Range. Photographers from all over the world have captured the most astonishing images from this peak.

We trek the last of the three passes. A great journey through a fairy tale land. After surrounding Dudh Lake through the right side, we start ascending through steep terrain. On arrival to Renjo La, we can say good bye to the east views (Everest Range) and say hello to the new views of the west side of Sagarmatha National Park. During the descend we will find small lakes with incredible turquoise colors and we will see again the green colours of the vegetation. We will stop in Lungdhen, where a great Sherpa meal will be our delightful reward.

A gentle walk along the great Bhotekoshi Nadi river will take us to Thame village. One of a great importance in the region. Thame was one of the most affected villages of Sagarmatha National Park during the earthquake in April 2015, and was rebuilt with the help of alpinist and other organizations. The Gompa of the village is situated on the way up to Sunder Peak overseeing the village. It is next to Thame where the villagers have constructed an hidroelectric station to supply the villages of all the region.

A short and easy trek will take us backto Namche Bazar. We will be able to rest, enjoy the local food, get to know the locals, enjoy a movie or a documentary in one of the coffee shops of Namche, visit the Namche Sherpa Museum…

We will say good bye to Namche, not before a well deserved farewell in the German Bakery for the best coffee and the delicious sweet artisan biscuits. Lukla will be our last stop before taking the flight back to Kathmandu the next day.

The flight will leave early in the morning*(see note above the map). And after landed in Kathmandu, our transport will drop you off at the Hotel in Kathmandu. The rest of the day is for you to rest and to enjoy the city! We will be available to do recommendations or help you in anything you need. If you wish, you can request a Guided Tour through the city if you haven’t done it on the second day of your stay in Kathmandu.

Last day to explore the city of Kathmandu or visit the surroundings (Bhaktapur, Nagarkot, Dhulikel and Namo Buddha…) and find special artisan crafts to take home as a memory of a Country that Inspired You.

We hope to see you again soon!
