          ABOUT MANASLU TREK

This is one of the most breathtaking trekkings in Nepal. Manaslu Conservation Area, one of the most untouched regions of Nepal, was officially declared in 1998 with the purpose to preserve the natural resources, culture, legacy, animal life, and promote eco-tourism to develop the local life.

Manaslu is known as the “Mountain of the Spirit”. It is a serrated huge wall of snow and ice hanging in the sky. Situated in the centre-west part of Nepal, in the Gorkha District.

Manaslu Trek passes through Nupri Valley, where we find a very strong Hindu and Tibetan culture and tradition. As we ascend, the valley opens up to spectacular alpine meadows and beautiful Tibetan villages.

Manaslu Trek is one of the greatest treks that we can find in the trekking panorama in Nepal. It is a privileged region fairly untouched with a very dramatic and powerful scenery.

We enter in the Tamang etnic group region. They are known as the original horse traders of Nepal. The region is full of Tibetan Buddhist art and tradition. We find numerous Buddhist monasteries, stupas and manis (Buddhist mantras carved on stone), along the path.

This itinerary offers approximately 177Km of circuit style of trekking path surrounding Manaslu mountain. The highest point we reach is Larkya La Pass (5160m), and finishes in Annapurna Conservation Area.

This region is home to numerous animals like the snow lepard, red panda, linx, Asian black bear, grey wolf, Himalayan musk deer, blue sheep, Himalayan tahr, horseshoe bat, and aroun 110 bird species including golden eagle, koklass pheasants, and Tibetan snow cocks. Vegetation varies according  to the region where we are at; Rododendron and Himalayan blue pine forests.

“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness is a necessity…”
